The Canon EOS 40D is a semi-professional 10.1 Megapixel Digital Camera SLR. Previously announced August 20, 2007 and was released later that month. It is the successor of the Canon EOS 30D, and is replaced by the EOS 50D. You can accept EF and EF-S. Like its predecessor, uses an APS-C sized image, resulting in a field of 1.6 x factor for harvest.
Improvements
Changes over the 30D has a sensor resolution of most (10.1 megapixel instead of 8.2). The sensor has better noise control than previous models. The 40D has a larger memory buffer to photos can write a faster pace. Frame rate has increased from 5 to 6.5.
The 40D adds a new format, sRAW Canon RAW image smaller for small prints and small files. 40D RAW format is 14 bits instead of 12 bits of the 30D ..
The device uses the new search! C III image processor, which was first used in the III Canon EOS-1D Mark presented earlier this year. Canon's DIGIC III processor ensures smooth operation and improved color reproduction, and around the implementation of the instantaneous time. A new detection system cleaning was introduced. You can also use the Wireless File Transmitter Canon WFT-E3/E3A.
The 40D has a screen largest (3 ", the same resolution) than the 30D (2.5") and 20D (1.8 "). There is a new menu and outdoor control of internal flash including second curtain sync.
Other additions to the Canon 40D include interchangeable focusing screens, much-needed AF-ON button, the system EOS Integrated Cleaning System to reduce dust from the sensor, and three new optional accessories: one is the version of the kit lens 18-55mm, a new compatible with previous versions, the live view mode and a power grip seal over time.

EOS 40D EF-S 17-85mm f/4-5.6 IS USM
The 40D has many features similar to their predecessors the 20D and 30D. This includes various shooting modes, the ability to change ISO and white balance, a unit of pop-up flash and an Lcd Screen. The LCD screen is larger than the previous models (3.0 "2.5" previously).
The 40D has more megapixels and the size of the resolution is slightly higher than the 20D and 30D. Its 14-bit RAW format.
A new feature is Live View, which allows photographers to the LCD as a viewfinder. The shutter noise is quieter in this mode.

Canon DPP 3.1 released their RAW converter with the 40D.
