What is the difference between a 85mm-17 and a 18-55mm. How much zoom is one than the other?
The 1917-1985 (5x zoom) obviously has more zoom range of 18-55mm (3x zoom). But I bet it is less bright (lower maximum aperture). Zoom Lens with wide, also tend to have a greater depth of field. Depending on your photographic needs, this can be good or bad.
